WILDLIFE EDUCATION

Three white tail deer fawns. Were they really orphans?

BEFORE RELEASING ANY ANIMAL
THERE ARE FOUR THINGS TO CONSIDER:

  1. Physical Condition
  2. Behavioral Abnormalities
  3. Presence of Disease
  4. Wildlife Conservation Principles

The ultimate goal of successfully releasing wildlife into its natural habitat requires that the animal is capable of doing everything it needs to survive in the wild.

This includes:

  1. Defense against Predators
  2. Feeding on Prey and
  3. Establishing a Home

Another consideration for a successful return to the wild is the well being of the other creatures in the habitat of release. The presence of disease can spread quickly amongst a new population causing wide spread effects.

Three young ducks soon after their successful return to the wild.

Soon after their release back into the wild,
these three young ducks are testing new waters.
