SUNDAY, MAY 31, 2009
11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
There were hundreds of visitors that came to tour our center to see how we are helping Ohio's native wildlife.
This open house offered a chance to see some "behind the scenes" activities at a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
Two rehabilitated hawks were released that day at the center.
The visitors were able to view over 50 native Hawks, Owls, Peregrines, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Egrets, Bitterns, Songbirds, Bobcats, Fox, Flying Squirrels, Reptiles, Amphibians and more.
There was no admission fee for this open house, although donations are greatly appreciated to help care for injured wildlife at the center.
There was also a huge garage sale around the grounds with a wide variety of things for sale, including some for free! Face painting for the kids, kids games, and nearly continuous wildlife educational talks all day.
The center is located at 4504 Bardshar Road, Castalia, Ohio, southwest of Sandusky. From the Rt. 2 By-Pass near Sandusky, take Rt. 101 southwest approximately 1 mile to the first intersection. Turn left (south) onto Bardshar Road. Go approximately 2 miles on Bardshar Road ~ BACK TO THE WILD will be on your left.
